What is a Vertical Lift Module (VLM)?
Like it’s name suggests, it is an automated vertical storage and retrieval system, commonly referred to as an ASRS. It is made up of trays, carrying up to 2,200 lbs. each, that can store up to thousands of different SKUs separated using cases, totes, dividers or partitions. The user inputs the needed product, and trays will be automatically retrieved and delivered to the pick window with 99% accuracy. VLM’s can condense up to 9,050 square feet of traditional space into only 150 square feet.
What is a Horizontal Carousel (HC)?
An HC maximizes horizontal space. It is made up of a series of bins carrying up to 1,200 lbs. each, with customizable sizes & spacing. It utilizes a “Parts-to-Picker” principle. The user inputs the needed product, and the corresponding bin will travel on an oval track to the pick door with 99% accuracy. Horizontal Carousels can increase productivity by up to 65%.
